ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE ENGINEER, RURAL WORKS SUB-DIVISION, NAYAGARH ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE FOR POSSESSION OF DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS WORTH RS.2,59,55,139/-(371% OF HIS KNOWN SOURCE OF INCOME).

Cuttack,31/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 31.03.2022, Sri Govinda Chandra Sahoo, Assistant Executive Engineer, Rural Works Sub-Division, Nayagarh was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.2,59,55,139/-, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.21 dt.31.03.2022 was registered against Sri Govinda Chandra Sahoo, Assistant Executive Engineer and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Govinda Chandra Sahoo, Assistant Executive Engineer, Rural Works Sub-Division, Nayagarh, simultaneous house searches were conducted on 30.03.2022 at 5 places in Cuttack, Khordha and Nayagarh district by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSsP, 5 Inspectors, 3 ASIs and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

 After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Govinda Chandra Sahoo, Assistant Executive Engineer were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.2,59,55,139/-(Rupees Two Crore Fifty-nine Lakh Fifty-five Thousand One Hundred Thirty-nine) which constituted 371% of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
