Cuttack,23/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 23.03.2022, Sri Umesh Kumar Shashini, Assistant Engineer, Baitarani Irrigation Division, Salapada, Dist-Keonjhar was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Keonjhar for possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.4 dt.23.03.2022 was registered against Sri Umesh Kumar Shashini, Assistant Engineer and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) /12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Umesh Kumar Shashini, Assistant Engineer, Baitarani Irrigation Division, Salapada, Dist-Keonjhar, simultaneous house searches were conducted on 22.03.2022 at 8 places in Keonjhar, Bhadraak, Jajpur and Khordha district by 8 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 3 DSsP, 5 Inspectors, 3 ASIs and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets were unearthed worth Crores in the name of Sri Umesh Kumar Shashini, Assistant Engineer and his family members;

• Flat No.303 at Shyam Enclave, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar worth Rs.35 Lakhs.
• One single storeyed building at Apartibindha, Bhadrak Town.
• One single storeyed building at native village Betira, Ps-Nandipada, Dist-Keonjhar.
• Fixed deposits, Bank and Insurance deposits worth over Rs.39.6 Lakhs.
• Gold ornaments weighing approx 521 gms and silver over 2 Kg worth over Rs.16.11 Lakhs.
• 11 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Anandapur, Keonjhar as per details below:

1. Plot No.1049, Khata No.269 at mauja Balianta, Bhubaneswar, Dist-Khordha
2. Plot No.1540, Khata No.475/72 at mouja Patharapada under Vyasanagar Tahasil, Dist-Jajpur.

• Plot No.1545, Khata No.367 at mouja Patharapada under Vyasanagar Tahasil, Dist-Jajpur.

1. Plot No.1541, Khata No.360 at mouja Patharapada under Vyasanagar Tahasil, Dist-Jajpur.
2. Plot No.11/01, Khata No.159 at mouja Sudusudia, Anandapur, Dist-Keonjhar.

• Plot No.1536/2824, Khata No.215 at mouja Patharapada under Vyasanagar Tahasil, Dist-Jajpur.

1. Plot No.440/3356, Khata No.791/1361 at mouja Apartibindha, Dist-Bhadrak.
2. Plot No.403/4101, Khata No.723/1604 at mouja Kuansa, Dist-Bhadrak.

• Cash and Household articles worth over Rs.5.6 Lakhs.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Umesh Kumar Shashini, Assistant Engineer, Baitarani Irrigation Division, Salapada, Dist-Keonjhar were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which constituted 163% of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
