EARLIER HE WAS SUSPENDED ON BRIBERY CHARGES
Cuttack,22/3/2022( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 22.03.2022, Sri Ramesh Chandra Pattnaik, ASI of Police, Thuamul Rampur Police Station, Dist-Kalahandi has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees Six Thousand) from the complainant to facilitate him in an enquiry and not to put complainant in disadvantage.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 22.03.2022 wherein the accused Sri Ramesh Chandra Pattnaik, ASI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in front of the Old Bus stand, Bhawanipatna while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees Six Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Pattnaik and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Pattnaik gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential Govt. quarter and office room of Sri Pattnaik, ASI at Thuamul Rampur and residential house at Ramsagarpada, Bhawanipatna. Sri Pattnaik, ASI has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.8 dated 21.03.2022 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
Earlier, Sri Pattnaik, the then ASI, Amapani PS, Dist-Kalahandi was suspended on 1.7.2020 on bribery charges which were reported against him on “Mo Sarkar” platform and found true on enquiry. A Departmental Proceeding was also initiated against him in this connection. Recently, he was released from suspension and posted to Thuamul Rampur PS, Dist-Kalahandi.
