Cuttack,18/3/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Yesterday i.e. on 17.03.2022, Sri Manoj Kuamr Behera, Executive Engineer, Drainage Division, Gandarpur, Cuttack was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.4,26,44,941/-, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.17 dt.17.03.2022 was registered against Sri Manoj Kuamr Behera, Executive Engineer and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) /12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Manoj Kuamr Behera, Executive Engineer, simultaneous house searches were conducted on 16.03.2022 at 4 places in Cuttack and Khordha district by 4 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 4 DSsP, 8 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets were unearthed in the name of Sri Manoj Kuamr Behera, Executive Engineer and his family members;

• Cash Rs.6,17,460/- (including Rs.1,83,500/- from Locker in PNB Bhubaneswar Branch, 1,02,000/- from Locker in SBI, Gandarpur Branch, Cuttack and Rs.75,500/- recovered from vegetable tray kept inside the refrigerator).
• Gold weighing approx 1.546 Kg worth over Rs.62.04 Lakhs
• One palatial double storeyed building over plot No.1333-P at Mahanadi Vihar, Cuttack.
• One flat No.C/51 at Utkal Heights, Pahala, Bhubaneswar.
• 6 plots in prime area of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar as per details below:

1. 1 Plot at mouja Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar vide plot No.464, Khata No.504 in the name of Sri Behera, E.E. worth Rs.44 Lakhs.
2. 1 Plot at Mahanadi Vihar, Cuttack vide plot No.1333-P in the name of Sri Behera, EE. worth Rs.8.64 Lakhs.
3. 2 Plots at mouja Jagamara-38, Bhubaneswar vide plot No.982/6735, Khata No.1133/3116 and plot No. 665/6733, Khata No.1133/3114 in the name of Smt. Debasmita Behera (wife) worth Rs.20.90 Lakhs.

• 1 Plot at mouja Anantapur-8, Bhubaneswar vide plot No.584/1253, Khata No.266/304 in the name of Smt. Debasmita Behera (wife) worth Rs.12.42 Lakhs.

9. 1 Plot at mouja Bhanapur, Cuttack vide plot No.2484, Khata No.741 in the name of Smt. Debasmita Behera (wife) worth Rs.9.20 Lakhs.

• Fixed deposits, Bank and Insurance deposits worth approx Rs.31 Lakhs.
• 1 four wheeler and 1 two wheeler.
• Household articles worth over Rs.11.37 Lakhs.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Manoj Kuamr Behera, Executive Engineer were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.4,26,44,941/-(Rupees Four Crore Twenty-six Lakh Forty-four Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-one) which constituted 508% of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
