ASSISTANT SUB-INSPECTOR (ASI), OMVD, JHARSUGUDA ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE FOR DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS (DA) WORTH RS.2,24,19,798/-.

Cuttack , 26/2/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 26.02.2022, Sri Harekrushna Nayak, ASI, OMVD, Jharsuguda was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.2,24,19,798/-, which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.14 dt.26.02.2022 was registered against Sri Harekrushna Nayak, ASI and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Harekrushna Nayak, ASI, OMVD, Jharsuguda, simultaneous house searches were conducted at 6 places on 25.02.2022 by 6 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 3 DSsP, 10 Inspectors and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets were unearthed in the name of Sri Harekrushna Nayak, ASI and his spouse;

  • One double storeyed building at Friends colony, Mangalabag, Cuttack worth Rs.61.4 Lakh.
  • One double storeyed building at Maluda, PS-Krushnaprasad, Dist-Puri worth Rs.70 Lakh.
  • One double storeyed building at Ram Nagar, Kamapalli chhak, Berhampur worth Rs.37.99 Lakh.
  • 5 numbers of plots including 2 plots at Cuttack, 1 plot at Berhampur and 2 plots at Krushnaprasad, Puri.
  • Fixed deposits, Bank and Insurance deposits worth over Rs.18.12 lakh.
  • Cash worth Rs.4.46 Lakh.
  • Gold, silver and household articles worth over Rs.9.5 lakh.
  • 4 two wheelers.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Harekrushna Nayak, ASI were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.2,24,19,798/-(Rupees Two Crore Twenty-four Lakh Nineteen Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety-eight) which constituted 440% of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
