Cuttack,15/2/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- On 11.02.2022, Sri Rabi Narayan Sahoo, Asst. Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police, Mancheswar Police Station, Bhubaneswar was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from a complainant (owner of an Eatery) threatening to frame him in a case. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 02 dated 04.02.2022 was registered.
Sri Rabi Narayan Sahoo, ASI was arrested on 04.02.2022 in the above mentioned case and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Following the trap, search was conducted at the residential house of Sri Sahoo located at Acharya Vihar and Nicco Park Road, Bhubaneswar.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Rabi Narayan Sahoo, ASI were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income which constituted 178% of his known sources of income.
As Sri Rabi Narayan Sahoo, Asst. Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police, Mancheswar Police Station, Bhubaneswar was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 03 dtd. 11.02.2022 was registered against Sri Rabi Narayan Sahoo, ASI and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by P.C. (Amendment) Act. 2018.
Today, on 15.02.2022, Sri Rabi Narayan Sahoo, ASI has been remanded in the above mentioned DA case to judicial custody by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar till 28.02.2022.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
