Cuttack,15/2/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 15.02.2022 Sri Sunil Kumar Panda, Chief Engineer-cum-Chief Electrical Inspector, Sambalpur, Dist-Sambalpur was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Cuttack for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.3,26,37,444/-, which he could not account for satisfactorily. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to judicial custody till 28.02.2022. In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.4 dt.14.02.2022 was registered against Sri Sunil Kumar Panda, Chief Engineer-cum-Chief Electrical Inspector and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Sunil Kumar Panda, Chief Engineer-cum-Chief Electrical Inspector, Sambalpur, Dist-Sambalpur, simultaneous house searches were conducted at 4 places in Sambalpur and Khordha district on 14.02.2022 by 4 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 2 DSsP, 9 Inspectors, 2 ASIs and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.
During searches, the following assets have been unearthed;
- One 3 BHK Flat No.201, Block-A, Green Park Residency, Sambalpur.
- 2 plots in Ainthapali under Sambalpur town.
- One shop booked in Grand Bazar, Bhubaneswar, the cost for which paid to the owner-Rs.1,04,71,428/-.
- One plot booked with M/s Assotech Builders, the cost for which paid to the owner, M/s Assotech Sungrowth, Bhubaneswar-Rs.61,65,000/-
- Bank deposits worth over Rs.32.04 lakh.
- Insurance deposits worth Rs.19.80 lakh.
- Investment in Mutual Fund worth over Rs.16.28 lakh.
- 1 four wheeler worth over Rs.17.41 lakh (KIA Seltos G 1.4DCT GTX) and 1 two wheeler.
- Household articles, gold ornaments, cash and other movable and immovable properties worth over Rs.15.77 lakh.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Sunil Kumar Panda, Chief Engineer-cum-Chief Electrical Inspector, Sambalpur, Dist-Sambalpur were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.3,26,37,444/-(Rupees Three Crore Twenty-six Lakh Thirty-seven Thousand Four Hundred Forty-four) which constituted 281% of his known sources of income.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
