Cuttack,9/2/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Manoranjan Nayak, Assistant Collector, Rourkela, simultaneous house searches were conducted at 5 places in Sundargarh, Jajpur and Khordha district i.e;
- Residential triple storeyed building at MIG-II-264 at Phase-III, Chhend, Kalinga Vihar, Rourkela.
- Residential double storeyed building at MIG-II-27 at Phase-III, Chhend, Kalinga Vihar, Rourkela.
- 3 BHK Flat, No-215, Block-E, Acropolis Apartment, Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar.
- House of younger brother at Dhanurjayapur, Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur Road, Dist-Jajpur.
- Office chamber in the office of ADM, Rourkela on 08.02.2022 by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 1 Addl. SP, 4 DSsP, 5 Inspectors and other staff conducted the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
During searches so far, the following assets worth approx Rs.2 Crore have been unearthed;
- One triple storeyed building at Rourkela. The present market value of the building is around Rs.75 Lakh.
- One double storeyed building at Rourkela. The present market value of the building is around Rs.35 Lakh.
- One 3 BHK Flat at Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar. The present market value of the building is more than Rs.50 Lakh. Undervaluation of this building during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard.
- 2 four wheelers (Hyundai Creta & Volkswagen Polo) and 1 two wheeler.
- Bank and other deposits, gold, cash and other movable and immovable properties.
As Sri Manoranjan Nayak, ORS, Assistant Collector, Rourkela, office of Additional District Magistrate, Rourkela, Dist-Sundargarh was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. case No.3 dt.09.02.2022 has been registered against Sri Manoranjan Nayak and his younger brother U/s 13(2) r/w 13 (1)(b)/12 PC Act-1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 09.02.2022, Sri Manoranjan Nayak, Assistant Collector, Rourkela has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
Further, Vigilance is looking into suspected transactions made for acquisition of benami assets by Sri Nayak. Unearthing of more assets including benami properties, is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
