Cuttack,5/11/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- In one more Vigilance Operation today, i.e. on 5.11.2021, Sri Kailash Chandra Khuntia, ASI of Police, Naikanidihi Police Station, Dist-Bhadrak has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) from a complainant to show him favour in a case registered in Naikanidihi Police Station. The bribe was an instalment of the overall demand of Rs.10,000/- by Sri Khuntia, ASI from the complainant.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 5.11.2021 wherein the accused Sri Kailash Chandra Khuntia, ASI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in front of the main gate of Naikanidihi PS while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Khuntia and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Khuntia gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house and office room of Sri Khuntia, ASI at Naikanidihi, Bhadrak. He has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.21 dated 4.11.2021 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
