Cuttack,30/10/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 30.10.2021, Sri Rashmiranjan Behera, Junior Engineer, Hindol NAC, Dist-Dhenkanal has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.1,500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred) from a complainant for release of last amount of instalment towards construction of PMAY house in favour of complainant’s mother.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 30.10.2021 wherein the accused Sri Rashmiranjan Behera, JE was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in his office room at Hindol while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.1,500/-(Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred) from complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Behera and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash of Sri Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Sri Behera at Bajuria, Dist-Dhenkanal and his office room at Hindol. He has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.21 dated 29.10.2021 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
It is worth mentioning here that, Sri Behera has also been arrested previously in Koraput Vigilance. PS Case No.26 dt.06.10.2018 for demand and acceptance of bribe Rs.50,000/-. Further, he is also involved in a D.A. Case vide Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.28 dt.25.10.2018 which is under investigation.
