Cuttack,17/9/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 17.09.2021, Sri Pratap Kumar Samal, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), Patasundarpur GP, Kakatpur Block, Dist-Puri has been apprehended by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from a complainant for allotment of IAY house in favour of his relative (for those were affected by Fani Cyclone in Puri district) under Awas Plus Yojana.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 17.09.2021 wherein the accused Sri Pratap Kumar Samal, PEO was caught by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division in front of Chandan Restaurant, Nimapara, Puri while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Samal and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash of Sri Samal gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Sri Pratap Kumar Samal, PEO has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.25 dated 16.09.2021 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
