Cuttack,26/8/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Nityananda Behera, Ex-Junior Clerk, office of Sub-Registrar, Panposh, Rourkela, Dist-Sundargarh was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.67 dated 03.11.2009 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) from a complainant for delivery of lease sale deed of the land allotted to him by the Industrial Development Corporation, Rourkela.
On 23.08.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh convicted Sri Behera, Ex-Junior Clerk and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(1)(d) punishable U/s 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Smt. Kadambini Samal, Ex-Inspector of Vigilance, Rourkela Unit, A/p-DSP Vigilance, Rourkela Division had investigated the case and Sri Dharmesh Kumar Patel, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Sundargarh conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
