Cuttack,23/8/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- In one more Vigilance Operation today i.e. on 23.08.2021, Shri Devraj Das, Assistant Block Education Officer (A.B.E.O.), Muribahal Block, Dist-Bolangir has been apprehended by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from complainant for finalization of enquiry proceedings drawn against him.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 23.08.2021 wherein the accused Shri Das, A.B.E.O. was caught by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division inside his office room at Muribahal while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Shri Das and seized in presence of witnesses. Shirt pocket wash of Shri Das, A.B.E.O. gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential rented house of Shri Das at Muribahal, Dist-Bolangir and his house at native village Gudiapokhari, PS-Pipili, Dist-Puri. Shri Devraj Das, A.B.E.O. has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.24 dated 22.08.2021 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
