Cuttack,29/04/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 29.4.2021, Sri Chakradhara Padhi, Tahasildar, Raikia, Dist. Kandhamal has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand) from complainant Sri Senapati Pradhan of Village-Mandakia, PS-Raikia, Dist-Kandhamal in order to release his (complainant) detained tractor engaged under MGNREG scheme.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 29.4.2021. Accused Sri Chakradhara Padhi, Tahasildar was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division in his Government quarter at Raikia while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs Rs.40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand) from complainant Sri Pradhan. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Padhi and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Padhi gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. His Government quarter and office chamber at Raikia are being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. case No.9 dated 28.4.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
