REVENUE INSPECTOR (RI) CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE TRAP CASE.

Cuttack,10/04/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Binayak Ghatuary, Revenue Inspector (Retired), Bhusandapur, Dist. Khordha was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar in Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.51 dt.9.11.2000 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) from complainant Sri Raj Kishore Baliarsingh of village Sundarpur, PS-Tangi, Dist. Khordha in order to release verification report on his lease application for a stone quarry. 

Friday  i.e. on 9.4.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar convicted Sri Ghatuary, Ex-RI and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months on each count for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) and 7  Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri Hemanta Kumar Swain, Spl. P.P, Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
