EX-REVENUE INSPECTOR CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE TRAP CASE.

 

Sri Manamohan Tripathy, Ex-Revenue Inspector, Burupada under Hinjilicut Tahasil, Dist. Ganjam, now retired was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur in Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.41 dated 12.11.2014 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from complainant Sri Padma Charan Pradhan of village Burupada, PS-Hinjilicut, Dist. Ganjam in order to submit a favourable report to the Tahasildar, Hinjilicut.

On 6.4.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur convicted Sri Tripathy, Ex-RI and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months and to pay fine of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U/s Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(1)(d) r/w 13(2)  Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri Arun Kumar Nayak, the then Inspector, Vigilance, Berhampur Division, A/p. DSP, Vigilance, Phulbani Unit under Berhampur Vigilance Division had investigated the case and Sri Ajit Kumar Pattnaik, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Berhampur conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
