Cuttack,23/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 23.3.2021, Sri Manas Ranjan Das, Senior Assistant, office of Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer, Bhanjanagar, Dist. Ganjam has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from complainant Sri Jagabandhu Sethy, retired Veterinary Technician of village Binchana, PS-Gangapur, Dist. Ganjam in order to process file relating to pensionery benefits of the complainant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 23.3.2021. Accused Sri Manas Ranjan Das, Senior Assistant was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division in his office while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from complainant Sri Sethy. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of accused Sri Das and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Das as well as his pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. His residential house at Dasapalla, Dist. Nayagarh and office room at Bhanjanagar, Dist. Ganjam are being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. case No.4 dated 22.3.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
