Cuttack,06/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Simanchal Nayak, Ex-Head Master-cum-Secretary, Gumakia Project Upper Primary School, Baliguda Block, Dist. Kandhamal, was facing trial in the Court of Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani in Berhampur Vigilance PS case No.49 dt.24.12.2014 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/409/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of Government money amounting to Rs.8,96,400/-( Rupees Eight Lakhs Ninety-six Thousand Four Hundred) without execution of school building.
Friday i.e. on 5.3.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani convicted Sri Simanchal Nayak, Ex-Head Master-cum-Secretary and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay fine of Rs.6,00,000/- (Rupees Six Lakhs), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year for the offence U/s 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 409 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently. The convict Sri Nayak has been remanded to judicial custody.
Sri Arun Kumar Nayak, the then Inspector, Vigilance, Phulbani Unit under Berhampur Division, A/p. DSP, Vigilance, Berhampur Division and Sri Pulasti Chhatria, the then Inspector, Vigilance, Phulbani Unit under Berhampur Division, A/p. Inspector, Vigilance, Boudh Unit under Berhampur Division had investigated the case and Sri P.K. Dora, Spl. P.P Vigilance, Berhampur Court conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
