Cuttack,04/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar)- On receipt of reliable information regarding illegal transportation of laterite stone (minor mineral) from forest land, joint forest raid was conducted by the Forest Unit of Cuttack Vigilance Division along with Forest staff of Tamka Forest Range on 3.3.2021 near village Khadiabhaga under Tamka Police Station, Jajpur District. During raid, one truck loaded with 200 numbers of laterite stones worth Rs.19,20,000/- (Rupees Nineteen Lakhs Twenty Thousand) was seized. The driver of the truck could not produce any valid permit/documents in support of the laterite stone and therefore violated the provision of the Minor Mineral Concession Rule, 2016. In this connection, a forest case vide OR Case No.211T of 2020-21 was registered under Tamka Forest Range and the driver of the vehicle was arrested and forwarded to the Court of JMFC, Jajpur Road.
On the same day, after getting reliable information regarding running of one illegal laterite stone quarry at Mantugadia under Tangi Police Station, Dist. Cuttack, adjacent to Binchana Protected Forest of Dalijoda Forest Range, another joint forest raid was conducted with the assistance of forest staff of Dalijoda Forest Range. During raid, one JCB excavator was found engaged in excavating laterite stone illegally from the above quarry. It was learned that there was no valid permission for operating such quarry. The JCB excavator along with 5 numbers of laterite stone worth Rs.28,00,500/- (Rupees Twenty-eight Lakhs Five Hundred) was seized. In this connection, a Forest case vide No.61D of 2020-21 was registered under Dalijoda Forest Range for further legal action. Another seven numbers of power tillers were found engaged for cutting laterite stone at four different places inside the quarry. It was learned that there was no permission for cutting of laterite stone by power tiller machines. Seven numbers of power tillers and laterite stone worth Rs.14,01,700/- (Rupees Fourteen Lakhs One Thousand Seven Hundred) were also seized. In this connection, four numbers of Forest cases vide No.62D, 63D, 64D and 65D of 2020-21 were registered under Dalijoda Forest Range for further legal action.
Today i.e. on 4.3.2021, getting reliable information regarding illegal hoarding of timber at village Mangarajpur under Badachana Police Station, Dist. Jajpur, a joint forest raid was conducted at village Mangarajpur by the Forest Unit of Cuttack Vigilance Division along with Forest staff of Dalijoda Forest Range. During raid, seventeen numbers of teak round logs worth Rs.65,940/- (Rupees Sixty-five Thousand Nine Hundred Forty) were seized. There was no legal document or permit in support of the above timber. In this connection, a forest case vide No.66D of 2020-21 was registered under Dalijoda Forest Range for further legal action.
In total, 7 forest cases were detected and registered and properties worth Rs.61,88,140/- (Rupees Sixty-one Lakhs Eighty-eight Thousand One Hundred Forty) were seized.
