Cuttack,04/03/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 4.3.2021, Sri Surendra Kumar Sahoo, Block Education Officer (BEO), Hemgiri Block, Dist. Sundargarh and Sri Biranchi Khilei, Junior Clerk, office of BEO, Hemgiri, Dist. Sundargarh have been caught by the officers of Vigilance, Rourkela Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.35,000/- (Rupees Thirty-five Thousand) from complainant Sri Narayan Bagh of village-Garjanbahal, PS-Hemgiri, Dist. Sundargarh for not initiating any departmental action for abnormal delay in submission of utilization certificates.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 4.3.2021. Accused Sri Biranchi Khilei, Junior Clerk was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Rourkela Division while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.35,000/- (Rupees Thirty-five Thousand) from complainant Sri Bagh. As per direction of Sri Sahoo, BEO, Sri Khilei, Junior Clerk received the bribe money from complainant Sri Bagh. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Khilei and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Khilei gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. The residential building of Sri Sahoo, BEO at village Kanaktora, PS-Rengali, Dist. Jharsuguda and the residential building of Sri Khilei, Junior Clerk at village Kurmkel, PS-Lephripada, Dist, Sundargarh are being searched. The accused persons Sri Sahoo, BEO and Sri Khilei, Junior Clerk have been arrested and are being forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge Vigilance, Sundargarh.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. case No.4 dated 3.3.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
