INSPECTOR-IN-CHARGE (IIC) AND TWO PRIVATE PERSONS (ASSOCIATES)  ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING BRIBE.

Cuttack,26/02/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 26.2.2021, Sri Chittaranjan Behera, IIC, Nihalprasad Police Station, Dist. Dhenkanal and his personal staff, Sri Prakash Mahalik and Sri Laxman Sethi, have  been caught by the officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees Six Thousand) from  complainant Sri Aintha Sethi of village/PS-Nihalprasad, Dist. Dhenkanal for not arresting the  complainant, his son and spouse in a dowry torture case in Nihalprasad PS case No.10/2021 registered against them.

Accordingly, a trap was laid on 26.2.2021. Accused Sri Chittaranjan Behera, IIC, Sri Mahalik and Sri Sethi were caught by the officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division in the Nihalprasad PS after demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees Six Thousand) from complainant Sri Aintha Sethi. Sri Laxman Sethi, on direction of the IIC, enquired about the bribe money from the complainant and took him to the IIC. As per direction of the IIC, Sri Prakash Mahalik received the bribe money from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of co-accused Sri Mahalik and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Mahalik as well as his pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.  The rented house and father-in-law’s house of Sri Chittaranjan Behera, IIC at Cuttack and office room at Nihalprasad, Dist. Dhenkanal are being searched. The accused persons Sri Behera, IIC, Sri Mahalik and Sri Sethi have been arrested and are being forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. case No.4 dated 24.2.2021 U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 as amended by the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
