FOREST RAID BY CUTTACK VIGILANCE FOREST UNIT

Cuttack,24/02/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- On receipt of reliable information regarding smuggling of minor minerals from forest area, joint forest raid was conducted today i.e. on 24.2.2021 by the Forest Unit of Cuttack Vigilance Division along with local Forest staff of Dalijoda Forest Range at Srirampur Toll gate under Badachana Police station, Dist-Jajpur. During raid, two numbers of TATA Haiwa and two trucks loaded with minor mineral worth Rs.47,19,000/- (Rupees Forty-seven Lakhs Nineteen Thousand) were seized. The accused persons could not produce any document in support of transportation of mineral. In this connection, 4 forest cases vide Case No. 151D, 152D, 153D & 154D of 2020-21 were registered under Dalijoda Forest Range and 4 (four) accused persons were arrested and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of JMFC, Chandikhol.

Another forest raid was conducted today at village Dalaka Sahi and Patna under Kaliapani Police Station, Dist. Jajpur. During raid, 14 numbers of illegal timber (Sal round) worth Rs.1,54,500/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty-four Thousand Five Hundred) were seized near Daitari Demarcated Protected Forest (DPF). It was found that there was no hammer mark impression on either sides of the timber. Hence, those were illegally stacked for smuggling purpose. In this connection, two numbers of Forest Cases vide Case No.19SK and 20SK of 2020-21 were registered under Sukinda Forest Range.
