Cuttack,19/02/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- On 18.2.2021, Sri Nabendra Mahakud, Revenue Supervisor, Birmaharajpur Tahasil and Sri Babaji Sahu, Ex-Revenue Inspector (Retired), Kamira Mouza, in-charge of High Tech Land Settlement Project, Dist. Subarnapur have been caught by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from complainant Sri Thabira Meher of village Tikirapada, Birmaharajpur, Dist. Subarnapur in order to process the file for conversion of land in favour of the complainant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 19.2.2021. Accused Sri Babaji Sahu, Ex-Revenue Inspector was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division in his government quarter at Subalaya, Subarnapur while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from complainant Sri Meher. Sri Sahu, Ex-Revenue Inspector received the bribe money from complainant Sri Meher on behalf of Sri Nabendra Mahakud, Revenue Supervisor. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Sahu and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Sahu gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Government quarter of Sri Sahu and rented house of Sri Mahakud at Birmaharajpur are being searched. Sri Nabendra Mahakud, Revenue Supervisor and Sri Babaji Sahu, Ex-Revenue Inspector have been arrested and are being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. case No.4 dated 18.2.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018/419/120-B IPC has been registered and is under investigation.
