Cuttack,19/02/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 19.2.2021, Sri Uma Charan Behera, Horticulture Overseer, Buguda, Dist. Ganjam has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.26,000/- (Rupees Twenty-six Thousand) from complainant Sri Purna Chandra Patra of village Karchuli, PS-Buguda, Dist. Ganjam in order to submit field verification report for getting subsidy in respect of 13 numbers of beneficiaries (including complainant) for executing single line trolley system under Horticulture Department.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 19.2.2021. Accused Sri Uma Charan Behera, Horticulture Overseer was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.26,000/- (Rupees Twenty-six Thousand) from complainant Sri Patra. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Patra and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash of Sri Behera as well as his pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Residential house of Sri Behera at Bhanjanagar, Dist. Ganjam and office room at Buguda are being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. case No.2 dated 18.2.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
