Bhubaneswar , 14/02/ 2021 ( Odisha Samachar)- ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture in collaboration with Radio Club of Odisha and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khordha celebrated the National Event of World Radio Day-2021 on 13th February’2021 at VG Jhingaran Auditorium, ICAR-CIFA, Kausalyaganga.
The Radio Club of Odisha is working for the improvement and promotion of radio activities in Odisha by which the radios may be able to address their challenges and apply their resources unitedly and more effectively. Radio Club of Odisha(RACOD) is a forum of radio broadcasters and professionals working for the broadcasting of radio contents and programmes for the community entertainment, empowerment and social development in Odisha.
The event was inaugurated by Padamashree Sri BatakrishnaSahu. Hereminisced how rural area people listen to weather updates of All India Radio. It is an in expensive tool of entertainment for the rural people. Mr. P.K. Dutta Secretary, RACOD gave brief about RACOD and World Radio Day-2021. The other speakers who spoke on this occasion are Dr Ramesh Hangloo, Director, Radio Sharda, Jammu & Kashmir and Dr D P Singh, Secretary, FCRS & Director, Radio Janvani, Rajasthan, Dr. S. S. Giri, Head, FNPD and In-charge, KVK, Khordha. In his address Dr. S. K. Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA informed that though there are many information channels for the farmers and radio is still popular in the rural areas and urged to harness the potentials of community radio. Community radio has given voice to voiceless.He presented detailed information about the different technologies of the ICAR-CIFA.
A Souvenir titled ‘Radio for People’ was Unveiled on this occasion by the guests.
Four technical sessions was conducted as Radio for Agriculture, Health, Social Security and disaster response. On the first technical session Representative from ICAR-CIFA;AIR, Cuttack participated. On the second technical session, Representative from Radio Sharda; AIR, Sambalpur participated. On the 3rd session Representative from KIIT, Dr Bidhubhusan Dash; Shri Sudhir Behera, Advocate, Odisha High Court participated and fourth technical session representative from VSSUT, Sambalpur, Dr Anil Kumar Kar, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering; CRS/Dr DP Singh;Dr Sarat Sahoo, Ex Director, IMD;Radio Chocolate/BIG FM/Red FM participated.
The valedictory session started with speech by Sri Yaswant Patil, Radio Madhuban, Rajasthan. Shri Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik, Chairman, Eastern Media was the Chief Guest on this occasion.He stressed that the media and the radio plays a key role in dissemination of knowledge to the people. Community Radios all over the state must put their maximum effort to spread government schemes and policies among the community. Over time radio has evolved. Now we have Radio App, Web Radio. With these innovations Radio will soon catch the attention of the new generation.Over120 delegates from as many as 8 states attended the programme.
