Cuttack, 13/02/2021 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Pratap Chandra Keshi, Ex-Junior Clerk, office of Special Planning Authority,, Baripada, Dist. Mayurbhanj was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.39 dt.16.9.2013 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.45,000/- (Rupees Forty-five Thousand) from complainant Sri Sobhan Kumar Das, Ward No.17, Balarampur, Baripada town in order to process the file to accord permission for salling of two numbers of EWS house allotted in the name of his (complainant) parents.
Friday i.e. on 12.1.2021, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Sri Keshi, Ex-Junior Clerk and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/-(Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(1)(d) r/w 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Sri Saroj Kumar Samal, Ex -Inspector of Police, Vigilance, Baripada Unit under Balasore Division, A/p. DSP, Vigilance Cell Division, Cuttack had investigated the case and Sri K. C. Satpathy, Spl. P.P, Vigilance Court, Baripada conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
