Cuttack,30/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )- On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Kailash Chandra Mohanty, Laboratory Assistant, Chikiti College, Chikiti, Dist. Ganjam, his (1) residential flat at Berhampur, (2) flat at Gandhi Nagar, Berhampur, (3) flat at BJB Nagar, Bhubaneswar, (4) house at native village Chikitigada, Dist. Ganjam, (5) house of relative at Chikitigada, Dist. Ganjam, and (6) office room at Chikiti College, Chikiti, Dist. Ganjam were simultaneously searched today i.e. on 29.12.2020 by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.

In course of search and inventory, Sri Kailash Chandra Mohanty, Laboratory Assistant was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,45,00,837/- (Rupees One Crore Forty-five Lakhs Eight Hundred Thirty-seven) including three numbers of flats, one single-storied building, three numbers of plots, one four wheeler, one tipper truck, one tractor, two numbers of two wheelers, deposits in different banks & post offices, gold & silver ornaments, cash and household articles.

After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Mohanty was calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.1,01,50,512/- (Rupees One Crore One Lakh Fifty Thousand Five Hundred Twelve).

As Sri Kailash Chandra Mohanty, Laboratory Assistant, Chikiti College, Chikiti, Dist. Ganjam was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.29 dt.30.12.2020 was registered against Sri Mohanty U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 30.12.2020, Sri Mohanty has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to jail custody till 12.1.2021.

                  Investigation of the case is in progress.
