Cuttack,23/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo) -On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Ramesh Chandra Das, Ex-Additional Director, Horticulture, Bhubaneswar (Retired), his (1) double-storied residential building at Bidanasi, Cuttack, (2) triple-storied building at CDA, Cuttack, (3) double-storied building at CDA, Cuttack, (4) double-storied building at his native village Ersama, Jagatsinghpur, and (5) office room of his spouse at Cuttack were searched simultaneously on 9.10.2020 by the officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
In course of search and inventory, Sri Ramesh Chandra Das, Ex-Additional Director, Horticulture has been found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,92,71,600/- (Rupees One Crore Ninety-two Lakhs Seventy-one Thousand Six Hundred) including one triple-storied building, three numbers of double-storied buildings, four numbers of plots, one four wheeler, two numbers of two wheelers, deposit in different Banks, investment in insurance policies, gold and silver ornaments, cash and household articles.
After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Das was calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.1,24,70,297/- (Rupees One Crore Twenty-four Lakhs Seventy Thousand Two Hundred Ninety-seven).
As Sri Ramesh Chandra Das, Ex-Additional Director, Horticulture, Bhubaneswar (Retired) was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.24 dt.23.12.2020 was registered against Sri Das U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC Act, 1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018/34 IPC for detailed investigation. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 23.12.2020, Sri Das has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to jail custody till 5.1.2021.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
