Cuttack,23/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )- On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Alekha Mohananda, Assistant Commercial Tax & GST Officer, Circle-I, Rourkela, Dist. Sundargarh, his 1) residential triple-storied building at Rourkela, 2) house at native village Mangaspur, PS-Bhasma, Dist. Sundargarh, 3) house of relative at Chakarpur, PS-Gopalpur, Dist. Sundargarh, and 4) office room at Circle-I, Rourkela, Dist. Sundargarh were simultaneously searched on 22.12.2020 by the officers of Vigilance, Rourkela Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
In course of search and inventory, Sri Alekha Mohananda, Assistant Commercial Tax & GST Officer was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,34,94,992/- (Rupees One Crore Thirty-four Lakhs Ninety-four Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-two) including one triple-storied building, one single-storied building, two numbers of plots, one four wheeler, two numbers of two wheelers, deposits in different banks and post offices, investment in various insurance policies, gold & silver ornaments, cash of over 1.22 Lakhs and household articles.
After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Mohananda was calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.87,97,838/- (Rupees Eighty-seven Lakhs Ninety-seven Thousand Eight Hundred Thirty-eight).
As Sri Alekha Mohananda, Assistant Commercial Tax & GST Officer, Circle-I, Rourkela, Dist. Sundargarh was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.8 dt.23.12.2020 was registered against Sri Mohananda U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation. In course of investigation, today i.e. on 23.12.2020, Sri Mohananda has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
