Cuttack,17/12/2020 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo )- On receipt of reliable information regarding collection of cash by Sri Ranjan Kumar Das, Sub-Registrar, Baranga, Dist. Cuttack as illegal gratification from different sources, the officers of Vigilance Cuttack Division kept a close watch over the movement and activity of Sri Das.
On 16.12.2020, Vigilance Officers of Cuttack Division intercepted him at 7.30 PM near Dion Apartment, Trisulia, Dist. Cuttack, while he was proceeding towards Trisulia in his car. During interception, a sum of Rs.97,370/- (Rupees Ninety-seven Thousand Three Hundred Seventy) was found from the possession of Sri Das, which he could not account for satisfactorily. Following interception, his house at native place Salipur has been searched.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S case No. 23 dt. 16.12.2020 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) P.C. Act, 1988 as amended by the P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 was registered against Sri Ranjan Kumar Das. Today i.e. on 17.12.2020, he has been arrested and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to judicial custody till 30.12.2020.
