(Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric mobility).                            <\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.media-outreach.com\/\">Media<br \/>\nOutReach<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; 7 December 2020 &#8211;\u00a0NIPSEA Technologies and the Agency for<br \/>\nScience, Technology and Research (A*STAR) have joined forces in the field of<br \/>\ncoating solutions for autonomous navigation. Over the next three years, this<br \/>\ngroundbreaking collaboration will be developing coating solutions for C.A.S.E.<br \/>\n(connected, autonomous, shared and electric mobility) which offers a glimpse<br \/>\ninto the future of automobiles and its rapid developments. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Established<br \/>\nin 2011, NIPSEA Technologies is the Research and Development facility of Nippon<br \/>\nPaint Group, outside Japan and China. NIPSEA&#8217;S current collaboration with<br \/>\nA*STAR paves the way to promote innovative R&amp;D projects, leveraging<br \/>\nexpertise in chemicals, engineering sciences, and infocomm technologies. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This current<br \/>\nproject is part of our goal to contribute to the innovations in the rapidly<br \/>\nchanging automotive industry. We are very honoured to have A*STAR as our<br \/>\npartner in this attempt to develop disruptive technologies,&#8221; said Mr. Wee Siew<br \/>\nKim, Group Chief Executive Officer of NIPSEA Group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/release.media-outreach.com\/release.php\/Images\/Thumb\/520x0\/108326\/nippon-1.jpg#image-108326\" width=\"520\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><i>From<br \/>\nL-Rt: Mr WANG Chyang (Managing Director of Nippon Paint Singapore Group), Mr.<br \/>\nWEE Siew Kim (Group Chief Executive Officer of NIPSEA Group), Mr. Frederick<br \/>\nCHEW (Chief Executive Officer of A*STAR) and Prof. TAN Sze Wee (Assistant Chief<br \/>\nExecutive, Enterprise A*STAR)<\/i><\/p>\n<p>This exciting<br \/>\npartnership is yet another milestone for NIPSEA and A*STAR, who have previously<br \/>\nworked on several key initiatives over the past eight years. This includes the<br \/>\nICAP (Industrial Coating and Packaging) consortium project which produced<br \/>\npackaging films that protect foods and medicine from oxidation, by keeping<br \/>\nmoisture out and blocking UV rays. The parties also worked on the Cool<br \/>\nSingapore project helmed by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2017,<br \/>\nyielding a total cool paint solution to reduce Singapore&#8217;s ambient temperature<br \/>\nby 2 \u00b0C. Through this collaboration, NIPSEA has developed full cool paint<br \/>\nsystems by modification and development of coatings for cool walls, roof and<br \/>\nroad applications. More recently in 2019, the two cutting-edge organisations<br \/>\nalso collaborated on an anti-microbial coating project which was successfully<br \/>\nimplemented for solvent-borne auto interior coatings in China. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The current<br \/>\nproject is part of NIPSEA&#8217;s aim to develop coating technologies for the evolving<br \/>\nneeds of the automotive and transportation industry. Over the next three years,<br \/>\nthe two organisations will work on several fronts in the field of autonomous<br \/>\nnavigation. This includes the development of new coating solutions that<br \/>\naddresses the key challenges of safety and cost in autonomous driving, as well<br \/>\nas the employment of machine and deep learning approaches to increase<br \/>\nproductivity in coating research and development. <i\/><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We<br \/>\nhave worked together with A*STAR since 2012 and have achieved many milestones<br \/>\ntogether. However, this project, in particular, is very exciting as for the<br \/>\nsecond consecutive year, Singapore ranks at the top of the list of countries<br \/>\nready to embrace autonomous vehicles (AVs), according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/home.kpmg\/xx\/en\/home\/insights\/2019\/02\/2019-autonomous-vehicles-readiness-index.html\">2019 Autonomous Vehicles<br \/>\nReadiness Index (AVRI)<\/a> conducted by KPMG.
