\ncivic performance<\/b>, positioning artificial intelligence (AI) not as a tool, but as a platform to co-create ethical, inclusive, and human-centred futures. Through immersive installations, public workshops, and experimental formats, UABBHK 2025 invited audiences to participate in the design of the city \u2014 in real time.\n<\/p>\n

Exhibition Highlights: Tech Meets Imagination<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
UABBHK 2025 unfolded across two venues, Oil Street Art Space (Oi!)<\/b> and the newly opened East Kowloon Cultural Centre (EKCC)<\/b>,
\nshowcasing 25 curated exhibits<\/b> by architects, artists, researchers, and technologists from Hong Kong and beyond. Teams from
\n10+ regions<\/b>, including Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, as well as Australia, Austria, Italy, Japan, Singapore, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA, explored how AI can be integrated into architectural thinking, spatial storytelling, and participatory design. Among the highlights were
\n4 video screening works<\/b> that extended the exhibition’s themes through cinematic and documentary perspectives, addressing topics such as displacement and homecoming, the entanglement of code and culture, and speculative futures shaped by collective memory and student-led design fictions. Interactive installations like
\nPrompt[Pond]ering<\/i>,
\n Sentient Mirror<\/i>, and
\n Collaborative Ephemeral Pavilion<\/i><\/b> invited audiences to co-design spaces through AI-driven interactions. Works such as
\nLANdLine Project<\/i> and
\n Flower Market Imaginaries<\/i><\/b> grounded these future-facing visions in Hong Kong’s unique community and cultural context.\n<\/p>\n

Extending Impact: Public Programmes on Innovation & Collaboration<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
To extend the UABBHK 2025’s engagement beyond the galleries, two flagship public programmes were launched to bring AI and urban thinking into action: the
\nArchiTech Hackathon<\/i><\/b> and the
\nHetao Vision: AI Video Competition<\/i><\/b>.\n<\/p>\n
ArchiTech Hackathon: Bridging Architecture and AI<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
Held earlier on the 24 January morning and co-hosted with
\nGoogle Developer Group Hong Kong (GDGHK)<\/b>, the
\nArchiTech Hackathon<\/b> was a first-of-its-kind 3-hour collaborative event that brought together
\n40 architects, developers and students<\/b> \u2014 half from the
\nHKIA Young Architects Group (YAG)<\/b> and half from
\nGDGHK<\/b> \u2014 to explore how AI can support architectural workflows. The participants learned to use
\nGoogle’s Gemini model<\/b> and no-code platforms to build
\nAI agents for architectural design code compliance<\/b>.\n<\/p>\n
Led by
\nMr. Frankie Wu from GDGHK<\/b>,
\nMs. Adeline Chan and Ar. Owen Lam, Executive Curators of UABBHK 2025,<\/b> the event embodied UABBHK’s vision by fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration between the tech and design communities, showcasing AI as a practical and imaginative tool for the built environment.\n<\/p>\n
The winning team is
\nMr. Eric Chan <\/b>and
\nAr. Toby Chiu<\/b>. They successfully built the AI \u200b\u200bagent for the competition in an astonishing time of
\n3 minutes, 56.32 seconds <\/b>within a 60-minute timeframe, and was able to answer 10 questions, as required by the competition, completing the complex professional architect exam questions with 90% accuracy under four minutes.\n<\/p>\n
Hetao Vision: Innovative AI Video Competition<\/b>\n<\/p>\n
Also announced during the ceremony were the winners of the
\nHetao Vision AI Video Competition<\/b>, which invited creators to imagine the future of the
\nHetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone (HSITP)<\/b>. All entries were required to be fully
\nAI-generated<\/b> \u2014 both visually and aurally \u2014 using tools such as Runway, Pika Labs, Suno, and Udio.\n<\/p>\n
The competition explored how AI can democratise futurology, letting creators of all backgrounds envision
\ninterconnectivity<\/b>,
\ninnovation<\/b>, and
\ninclusiveness<\/b> across the “one river, two banks<\/b>” vision of Hetao.\n<\/p>\n
The winning video,titled

\nZhang Xiaoshan<\/b>, was praised for utilising AI to create a convincing narrative of a cross-border innovation hub, demonstrating a profound understanding of the development of the Hetao area<\/b>. Two additional finalists were also recognised for their distinctive storytelling and technical creativity.\n<\/p>\n
A public screening of
\nthe shortlisted videos will be held<\/b> in the Hetao Science and Technology Innovation Cent<\/b>r<\/b>e,<\/b> in
\nFebruary 2026<\/b>, allowing the public to reflect on the role of AI in imagining future urban life.\n<\/p>\n
