Bhubaneswar,12\/07\/2025(Odisha Samachar\/ Rajat Mohapatra)-The birth centenary of Vidyutprabha Devi, a towering figure in Odia literature, was celebrated with grandeur at the auditorium of Rama Devi Women\u2019s University, Bhubaneswar.<\/p>\n

The state-level celebration was organised by Odisha Sahitya Akademi with the support of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Government of Odisha.\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he expressed his deep reverence for the literary contributions of Vidyutprabha Devi and said, \u201cIt is an honour to be part of the centenary celebration of the great literary figure Vidyutprabha Devi. Her early dedication to literature and her enduring passion have inspired generations. When one speaks of feminist voices in Odia poetry, her name stands tall. She is a true symbol of women’s empowerment and her writings continue to guide and inspire us. In this age of Artificial Intelligence, we must use technology to promote and expand the reach of Odia literature to a global audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Padma Bhushan awardee and eminent writer Dr. Pratibha Ray, attending as Guest of Honour, remarked, \u201cVidyutprabha Devi was an exceptional poet. Her works enriched Odia literature significantly. Her poetry, rooted in feminism and socialism, evokes deep emotional resonance. Love and pain both find voice in her verses.\u201d\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

Culture Minister, Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, lauded Vidyutprabha Devi as a \u201cpowerful advocate of feminism and a shining example of women\u2019s strength.\u201d He emphasized the crucial role of women in achieving the Vision of Vikshit Odisha 2036 and Vikshit Bharat 2047. \u201cOur efforts must focus not only on national progress but also on making Odia language and literature globally celebrated \u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ekamra MLA Shri Babu Singh described literature and culture as the \u201cmirror of society\u201d and praised Vidyutprabha Devi as the \u201cguiding light of Odia literature.\u201d He hoped her ideals would continue to inspire youth to work towards building a strong society.<\/p>\n

Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, former Vice-Chancellor of Central University, Koraput and son of Vidyutprabha Devi, offered insightful reflections on Vidyutprabha Devi’s literary journey and contributions.<\/p>\n

A painting workshop based on the life and legacy of Vidyutprabha Devi was inaugurated by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, where artists brought to life her inspiring persona through their art. Shri Pradhan appreciated the creative expression and the artistic tribute to the late poet.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, a book titled \u201cBajiraout\u201d and the latest issue of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi\u2019s magazine \u201cKonark\u201d were released. A panel discussion on the life and works of Vidyutprabha Devi was also held.<\/p>\n

Dr. Chandrasekhar Hota, Secretary of Odisha Sahitya Akademi, delivered the welcome address, while Prof. Chandi Charan Rath, Vice-Chancellor of Rama Devi Women\u2019s University, offered the vote of thanks.\"\"<\/p>\n
