\u00a0Bhubaneswar, 24\/06\/2025( Odisha Samachar \/ Rajat Mohapatra )- A Conference of State Energy Ministers and Energy Secretaries of Eastern Region States and UTs are being organized today at Patna, Bihar under the chairmainship of Hon\u2019ble Union Power Minister Shri Manoharlal. Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of Energy, Govt. of Odisha Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo attended the conference and highlighted the overview of Odisha\u2019s power sector. Shri Singh Deo said that, Odisha is committed to building a resilient, green, and future-ready power infrastructure. Through strategic investments in renewables, robust transmission planning, cybersecurity, and financial reforms, we aim to be a model state in energy transformation reiterated Mr Singh Deo.<\/p>\n

\"\"Shri Singh Deo reaffirmed that, Odisha has successfully transitioned from a power-sufficient to a power-empowered state. The state’s peak power demand of 6,242 MW has been fully met. By 2036, 61% of Odisha\u2019s power portfolio is targeted to be from non-fossil sources. The state plans to add a total of 11,294 MW by 2036, including solar, wind, hydro, DRE, and pumped storage out of which 3,904 MW has already been contracted. Odisha has achieved Grid Resilience through Islanding Schemes to ensure uninterrupted power supply during grid failures. By 2030, Odisha will have 225 substations and 20,939 ckm of transmission lines with total transformation capacity of 45,369 MVA. Renewable power evacuation corridors are being developed, including Hirakud\u2013Kolabira\u2013Duburi, Indravati\u2013Theruvali\u2013Gopalpur, Theruvali-Jayanagar 400kV LILO at Jayanagar pooling Station, Balimela to kolab to Jayanagar Pooling Station.\"\"<\/p>\n

By addressing the financial health of DISCOMs he said, AT&C losses have reduced significantly from 29.5% in FY21 to 16.5% in FY25. Three out of four DISCOMs have received A+ ratings in the 12th and 13th Annual Rankings of Power Distribution Utilities and were among the top 10 performing utilities in India.\"\"<\/p>\n

Deputy Chief Minister saught support\u00a0 from Govt. of India in the sanction of funds of Rs.6284 Cr. under revamped distribution sector scheme. Central financial assistance for disaster resilient power infrastructure. Allocation of 800 MW power from NLC Talabira phase ll project to Odisha. Sanction of central financial assistance under green energy transmission corridor projects in Odisha for viability gap funding for pumped storage projects (PSP) in line with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), floating solar projects in Odisha, offshore wind projects and study of tidal potential on Odisha coastline.\"\" Exemption of \u201cstate Compensation Cess\u201d Rs. 400\/ton of coal dispatch from \u201cManoharpur Captive Coal Mine of Odisha coal and power Ltd\u201d to linked end use plant at OPGC. Relaxation of ash utilization compliance target by MoEF & Cc and allotment of MCL mine voids for backfilling with fly-ash. Relaxation of condition for obtaining NoC under FRA, 2006 for forest clearance in case of transmission line projects.<\/p>\n
