Bhubaneswar, 13\/03\/2025( Odisha Samachar \/ Rajat Mo0hapatra):<\/strong>A meeting on implementation of sustainable Irrigation Project was taken by Smt. Anu Garg,IAS, \u00a0Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of Government, Department of Water Resources on Wednesday dt.12.03.2025. It was also attended by the Principal Secretary, FARD, Directors and senior officers of the stakeholder Departments.\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0The DC-cum- ACS, asked the functionaries of the key Departments to focus on effective convergence and boosting expenditure.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The impact that the Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA) has made through various climate smart interventions in 538 Minor Irrigation tanks in the 15 selected districts under the project was presented.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Civil works such as head works; re-sectioning of the dam profile; strengthening of the dams by stone riprap packing, turfingetc have been taken up in 157 MIPs and work is on in another 189.120 KMs of field channels have been built for conveying irrigation water to 4500Ha of the command area.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"\u00a0\u00a0 PaniPanchayats\u00a0 of the tank ayacuts have been supported with 113 Customs \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hiring Centres (CHCs) for adopting participatory farm mechanisation; 1236 \u00a0\u00a0 solar \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 bore wells for providing additional\u00a0 \u00a0irrigation to 6180 Ha for taking up climate \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 smartagriculture and horticulture practices; 688 pack housesfor \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 processing, grading, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 storage of vegetables post-harvest; 125 MT capacity of \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 cold roomsto avoid post-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 harvest losses and better realization of market prices; \u00a0 592 preservation unitsfor \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 value addition through drying, canning, freezing, or \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 other preservation \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 methods; 131 sabjicoolersforstoring vegetables and avoiding \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 distress sale during \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the glut periodand 344 onion storage structures for \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 augmenting regular supply to consumers and to manage price fluctuation.\"\"<\/p>\n

Besides, WSHGs,PFCS,PPs have been supported with scientific pisciculture in 846.27 Ha for increased fish production; 518 bio-flocunits for growing multiple species in less area; 297 fishing drag nets for better and timely fish harvest; 57 fish marketing vehicles for faster market access.\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0Further, 10.88 lakh kg of Nitrogen has been added to the soil; 236.71 kg of sequestration of carbon done through green manuring in 13604 Ha and 1.92 lakh kg of CH4<\/sub> emission reduced by adopting Dry DSR in 6895 Ha.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
