{"id":43050,"date":"2024-08-28T14:54:44","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T14:54:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/?p=43050"},"modified":"2024-08-28T14:54:44","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T14:54:44","slug":"sneh-holds-workshop-on-restorative-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/2024\/08\/28\/sneh-holds-workshop-on-restorative-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"SNEH holds workshop on Restorative Justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;Community sensitisation is key to bring down crime&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bhubaneswar, 28\/08\/2024(Odisha Samachar )-Guests at a workshop on\u201d\u00a0Humanising Justice through Restorative Justice\u201d\u00a0on\u00a0Wednesday attributed the view on the introduction of community\u00a0service\u00a0as a form of punishment in the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS), 2023 represents a continuation of this trend, aligning with the contemporary views on Restorative Justice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The systems all over the World have demonstrated that community\u00a0service\u00a0can be an effective alternative to incarnation, especially for non-violent offenders.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-43051 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/SNEH-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/SNEH-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/SNEH-1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Section 4(f) of the BNS formally introduces community service, this legislative change aims at to provide an alternative to punishment, adressing issues like prison overcrowding and promoting the rehabilitation of offenders, thereby solving petty offences at community level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The one-day workshop held at the SAMPRITI peace training cum resource centre in Bhubaneswar being\u00a0organised by the Society for Nature, Education, and Health (SNEH) discussed at length on various aspects of BNS especially on community policing besides, promoting community involvement where both victim and offender get a chance to resolve amicably the &#8216;offences&#8217; of the non-violent\u00a0nature.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Program was inaugurated by ACP (Communication) Sarat Chandra Sahu, in the presence of Retired Superintendent of Police, SitaramSatpathy, SNEH president Subarna Ghosh, Judicial expert Dr Bijoy Chandra Mohapatra,Ex Commissioner for the Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of OdishaKasturiMohapatra, Odisha Human Rights Protection Council General Secretary and Senior High Court Advocate Naresh Chandra Jena and Development Activist Subas Chandra Panda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop was attended by Members of civil society, advocates, social workers, members of the Judiciary, educationists, human rights activists and Journalists. <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-43052 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/SNEH-2-300x158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/SNEH-2-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eodishasamachar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/SNEH-2.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SNEH project coordinator DibakarMahali spoke on the ongoing interventions in the Salia Sahi slum and presented the principles and components of Restorative Justice.
