Cuttack,27\/9\/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )-Today i.e. on 27.09.2022, Sri Ramakanta Behera, Junior Engineer (JE), Office of BDO, Bhubaneswar has been apprehended <\/strong>by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000\/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) <\/strong>from a complainant (Contractor) for facilitating release of his pending bills for a road work executed by him.<\/p>\n

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 27.09.2022, wherein accused Sri Ramakanta Behera, JE was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance\u00a0 in his office room while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000\/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Behera and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched<\/strong> on the house of Sri Behera at Soubhagya Nagar, PS-Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar and house at native village Line Pada, PS-Tikabali, Dist-Kandhamal. Accused Sri Ramakanta Behera, JE has been arrested and is being forwarded to the\u00a0Court.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.30 dated 26.09.2022 U\/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.<\/p>\n

In second Vigilance Operation today<\/strong>, Sri Ch. Chandraiah, GRS of Indrakhi G.P under Rangeilunda Block, Dist-Ganjam has been apprehended <\/strong>by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.27,000\/- (Rupees Twenty-seven Thousand) <\/strong>from a complainant (representative of labourers) towards\u00a0 payment\u00a0 of\u00a0 dues of 47 labourers\u00a0 with labour cards.<\/p>\n

The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Chandraiah and seized in presence of witnesses. Left hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sri Chandraiah gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Following the trap, simultaneous <\/strong>searches have been launched<\/strong> on the residential house of Sri Chandraiah at Golabandha, PS-Gopalpur, Dist-Ganjam and his office room at Indrakhi GP. Accused Sri Ch. Chandraiah, GRS<\/strong> has been <\/strong>arrested and will be forwarded to the\u00a0Court.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.20 dated 26.09.2022 U\/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.<\/p>\n

In <\/strong>the third Vigilance Operation today<\/strong>, Sri Satyanarayan Dolei, Senior Clerk (In-charge of Record room), office of Tahasildar, Boipariguda, Dist-Koraput has been apprehended <\/strong>by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.5,000\/- (Rupees Five Thousand) <\/strong>from a complainant to hand over the converted RoR (Patta from Agriculture land to Gharabari Land).<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Following the trap, simultaneous <\/strong>searches have been launched<\/strong> on the rented residential house of Sri Behera at Koraput, his house at Potangi, Koraput and his office room at Boipariguda. Accused Sri Satyanarayan Dolei, Senior Clerk<\/strong> has been <\/strong>arrested and will be forwarded to the\u00a0Court.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.30 dated 27.09.2022 U\/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Sri Binod Kumar Naik, OAS-1 (Junior), BDO, Gudvela Block, Dist-Bolangir who was trapped yesterday for accepting bribe Rs.1,80,000\/- from a contractor for clearing his past bills for executed work and for awarding him new contract (repair and construction of Govt. residential quarters), was forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir today and was remanded to jail custody. Also, Sri Bansidhar Parida, Assistant Engineer (AE) of Ganjam Block, Dist. Ganjam who was trapped yesterday for accepting bribe Rs.4,000\/- from a contractor for facilitating release of his bill for a road work (supply of morrum) under MGNREG scheme, was forwarded to the Court of Spl.
