Cuttack,1\/4\/2022 ( Odisha Samachar )- Sri Bhagirathi Pradhan, Ex-Senior Clerk, office of Inspector, Ayurveda, Sundargarh, A\/p-Senior Clerk, Homeopathy College, Sambalpur was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh in Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.62 dated 01.11.2006 U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(d)\/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.4,000\/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from a complainant (Doctor) for processing his LPC and Service Book and to send the same to his new place of posting.<\/p>\n
On 31.03.2022, the Hon\u2019ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh convicted Sri Bhagirathi Pradhan, Ex-Senior Clerk and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000\/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U\/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon\u2019ble Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000\/-(Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.<\/p>\n
