Teacher, in-charge Head Master (retired), City High School, Berhampur was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur in Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.3 dated 12.01.2011 U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(c)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988\/409\/467\/ 468\/471\/477-A IPC for misappropriating Govt. money of Rs.2,67,945\/- by manipulating the records in connection with purchase of science equipments of the School.<\/p>\n
Today i.e. on 25.03.2022, the Hon\u2019ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur convicted Sri Surya Narayan Maharana, Ex-Asst. Teacher, in-charge Head Master(retired) and sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000\/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U\/s 13(2) r\/w (1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon\u2019ble Court further sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.2,000\/-(Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U\/s 409\/467\/471 IPC for each Sections and also sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.2,000\/- (Rupees Two Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U\/s 468\/477-A IPC. All the sentences are to run concurrently.<\/p>\n
Sri Prabir Keshari Tripathy, Ex-Inspector Vigilance, Berhampur Division had investigated the case and Sri P.K. Dora, Addl. Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Berhampur conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.<\/p>\n
