Sabita Sahoo, Ex-Tahasildar, Shamakhunta, Dist-Mayurbhanj, A\/p-Deputy Collector, Balasore was facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.45 dated 26.11.2014 U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(d)\/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.10,000\/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) from a complainant to accord permission for manufacturing of 5 Lakhs bricks in mauza Mahulia under Shamakhunta Tahasil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today i.e. on 25.03.2022, the Hon\u2019ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Smt. Sabita Sahoo, Ex-Tahasildar, A\/p-Deputy Collector, Balasore and sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000\/- (Rupees Five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U\/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon\u2019ble Court further sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000\/-(Rupees Ten Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months for the offence U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sri R.K. Kanungo, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Balasore Division had investigated the case and Sri S.K. Ray, In-charge Spl.
