Teacher, attached to Kashinagar Block, Dist-Gajapati and Sri Chandra Sekhar Behera, Accountant, office of S.I. of Schools, Kasinagar Block, Dist-Gajapati were facing trial in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur in Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.14 dated 21.03.2012 U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(d)\/7\/10 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs.4,500\/- (Rupees Four Thousand Five Hundred) (Rs.2000\/- demanded by Sri Rabindra Kumar Panda & Rs.2,500\/- demanded by Sri Chandra Sekhar Behera) from a complainant for preparing and passing the arrear bills of the complainant amounting to Rs.1,50,000\/-.<\/p>\n
On 22.03.2022, the Hon\u2019ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur convicted Sri Rabindra Kumar Panda, Ex-Asst. Teacher and Sri Chandra Sekhar Behera, Accountant\u00a0 and sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000\/- (Rupees Five Thousand) each, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U\/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon\u2019ble Court further sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000\/-(Rupees Five Thousand) each, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months for the offence U\/s 13(2) r\/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.<\/p>\n
