\nOutReach<\/a>\u00a0– 14 February 2022\u00a0–\u00a0<\/b>Bybit, one of the
\nworld’s fastest growing cryptocurrency exchanges, has pledged to plant and
\nnurture 100,000 fruit trees across Haryana, Uttar
\nPradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha and West Bengal in India,
\nthrough its partnership with One Tree Planted. <\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Through
\nsupporting the “India 2022: Fruit Trees to Fight Hunger” project, which will
\nrun from Feb. 14, 2022 to Nov. 30, 2022, Bybit will be helping smallholder
\nfarmers in marginalized communities, by helping the participating farmers to
\ncreate sustainable livelihoods and provide nutritious food for their families
\nand community. The initiative also manifests long-term goals of \u00a0fighting pollution, conserving water and
\npreventing soil erosion. <\/p>\n

Three years after
\nplanting, each fruit tree will help generate an income of $10 per tree per
\nyear. The pledge will see through the plan to establish a steady source of
\nincome to fight hunger, malnutrition and poverty in vulnerable rural
\ncommunities. The project will also create job opportunities for local women in
\nthe tree nurseries to alleviate gender inequality in underprivileged groups. <\/p>\n

One Tree Planted
\nwill be building a new large-scale tree nursery in Mirzapur this year to reduce
\nthe need for sapling transportation (saving costs and carbon emissions), and
\nimprove the quality of the saplings as they are able to acclimatize to local
\nconditions. These nurseries will employ a local workforce consisting of widowed
\nand elderly women, who face many inequalities in already marginalized
\ncommunities.<\/p>\n

Bybit shares One
\nTree Planted’s deep-rooted vision for a greener future. In addition to economic
\nbenefits for local communities, the project will pilot a “plastic-free
\nnursery” program, replacing plastic nursery bags with jute and paddy
\nstalks to reduce tons of plastic waste. This will commence as a trial on a
\nsmall portion of the trees in 2022, and will be rolled out further in future
\nyears. One Tree Planted has supported this project with its local
\npartner Sustainable Green Initiative since 2017. Together, they have planted
\n3.5 million fruit trees across India to date. One
\nTree Planted has grown over 40 million trees in 43 countries since 2014.<\/p>\n
