Both executives will build<br \/>\non Alcon&#8217;s product pipeline, year-to-date performance, and strengthen<br \/>\ninnovation and commercial execution, driving Surgical and Vision Care sales<br \/>\ngrowth in all categories.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chintan Desai has joined<br \/>\nAlcon as Vice President, Surgical for Asia Pacific. He succeeds Sunil Vasant,<br \/>\nwho has been appointed Vice President, Commercial Operations and Strategy,<br \/>\nAlcon International.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Stephanie Waugh, previously<br \/>\nVice President and Global Head of Ocular Health, has been appointed Vice<br \/>\nPresident, Vision Care for Asia Pacific. She succeeds Gustavo Zac, who has been<br \/>\nappointed Vice President, U.S. Vision Care Marketing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Default\">In his new<br \/>\nrole, Desai will harness his extensive healthcare and medical device industry experience<br \/>\nin Asia Pacific and the United States and his competence in sales, services,<br \/>\nfinance, supply chain and project management to solidify Alcon&#8217;s<br \/>\nindustry-leading surgical eye care market leadership. He joins Alcon&#8217;s Surgical International Leadership team and reports to Roger Lopez, President,<br \/>\nInternational, Surgical Franchise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">In her past roles, Waugh has played a<br \/>\npivotal role in new product innovation and portfolio strategy for Alcon&#8217;s leading<br \/>\neye care brands, including Systane<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, Pataday<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, OPTI-FREE<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> and AOSEPT<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>.<br \/>\nShe will continue to spearhead the expansion of Alcon&#8217;s contact lens and ocular<br \/>\nhealth portfolio in the region and joins Alcon&#8217;s Vision Care International<br \/>\nLeadership team. With their combined experience and<br \/>\npassion for customers, I know that they will make an immediate impact and lead<br \/>\nour business to address the growing regional needs for improved vision by helping<br \/>\npeople see brilliantly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">Desai joins Alcon following 23 years at GE Healthcare, most<br \/>\nrecently as Chief Executive Officer for Southeast Asia. He was integral in leading the commercial<br \/>\nteam to deliver consistent double-digit growth and established a strong<br \/>\nleadership structure to enable sustainable, long-term growth. \u00a0Under his leadership, GE Healthcare grew its<br \/>\nfootprint in both public and private sectors in categories such as diagnostic imaging,<br \/>\nultrasound, anaesthesia and monitoring solutions, becoming Southeast Asia&#8217;s<br \/>\nlargest company in its category.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">Desai<br \/>\nspent the first decade of his career with GE Healthcare in the United States at<br \/>\nthe GE Healthcare Global HQ. After moving to Asia Pacific in 2008, he held<br \/>\nprogressive commercial, finance and operational leadership roles for GE<br \/>\nHealthcare Asia Pacific, based in Sydney and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">&#8220;Estimates<br \/>\nshow that more than a billion people across the region will be living with<br \/>\nvision loss by 2050,<sup>1<\/sup> and with an aging population as well as the<br \/>\nincreasing incidence of myopia, improving access to high-quality ophthalmic<br \/>\ncare is a key priority for all APAC countries,&#8221; said Desai. &#8220;Our innovations,<br \/>\nsuch as Vivity\u2122 and PanOptix<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> intraocular lenses, and our education<br \/>\ninitiatives, such as the Phaco Development Program, continue to empower and<br \/>\nenable ophthalmic surgeons in APAC with world-class vision care offerings. She<br \/>\nwas most recently Global Head, External Eye Disease, and oversaw brand and<br \/>\nportfolio strategy, integration, new product launches, and commercial strategy<br \/>\nfor business development and licensing with deals valued at $1.5 billion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">Prior to<br \/>\nNovartis, Waugh spent nine<br \/>\nyears at Procter &amp; Gamble in brand management, innovation strategy and<br \/>\nbusiness development for brands like Vicks, Pepto-Bismol, Pantene, Olay and<br \/>\nGillette, as well as prescription pharmaceuticals in gastroenterology and<br \/>\nwomen&#8217;s health. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">&#8220;My career<br \/>\nat Alcon has been an exhilarating journey, taking me from Texas to around the<br \/>\nworld and now to Singapore.
