\nin business, contributions to the gemstone and jewellery trade, and extensive
\nphilanthropic efforts, the organiser of the Jewellery World Awards (JWA) takes
\nthe great pleasure in announcing that the KGK Group Chairman Navrattan Kothari
\nhas been chosen as the 2021 recipient of the Jewellery World Awards’ highest
\naccolade \u2013 the Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/p>\n

“Since the 1960s,
\nKothari has been working tirelessly, not just to elevate the KGK Group, but
\nalso to inspire excellence in the jewellery and gemstone trade through his
\nroles in key industry organisations. A role model for the younger generation,
\nhe is a visionary whose business acumen is matched only by his passion for
\ngiving back to society,” said Letitia Chow, Chairperson and Founder of JWA at
\nInforma Markets Jewellery.<\/p>\n

Building on his family’s existing gemstone trading business,
\nKothari transformed the enterprise when he spearheaded efforts to explore
\nopportunities in manufacturing coloured stone and diamond jewellery in the
\n’60s. This paved the way for KGK’s subsequent growth into a global conglomerate
\nthat covers the entire spectrum of mining, sourcing, manufacturing,
\ndistributing and retailing diamonds and coloured stones. <\/p>\n

Kothari is also being lauded for his compassionate response
\nin dealing with the recent COVID-19 crisis. Even as the pandemic dealt a blow
\non various industries, he made sure to retain the services of everyone in the
\nGroup’s workforce. The businessman also allocated resources for feeding more
\nthan 70,000 people on the fringes of society and donated oxygen compressors to
\nthe Rajasthan state government.<\/p>\n

These fall in line with Kothari’s long history of
\nhumanitarian work, which include the construction of Northern India’s largest cancer
\nhospital in 1997, the provision of educational assistance to more than 33,000
\nstudents in Rajasthan, and the fulfilment of the wishes of terminally ill
\nchildren from around the globe.<\/p>\n

“I would like to sincerely thank the JWA for bestowing upon
\nme such an honour. It truly encourages me, as well as members of the KGK team,
\nto work harder towards reaching our goals and pursuing initiatives that could
\npositively impact the business landscape, the environment and society as a
\nwhole. Rest assured that we will remain committed to developing sustainable
\npractices and improving the lives of those in need,” shared Kothari, who has also
\nbeen a member of the managing committee of the Gems and Jewellery Export
\nPromotion Council in India in the last 20 years; and founder of the Indian
\nInstitute of Gems and Jewellery in Jaipur, where he served as chairman for four
\nyears.<\/p>\n

JWA will officially
\npresent Kothari’s award in the highly anticipated gala dinner, which will be
\nheld at JGT Dubai (Jewellery Gem Technology Dubai) on 21 February 2022. JGT
\nDubai is a joint premium exhibition by Informa Markets Jewellery \u2013 the world’s
\nlargest B2B jewellery fairs organiser \u2013 and Italian Exhibition Group SpA (IEG).<\/p>\n

JWA 2021 is
\nsupported by Headline Partners Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, Shanghai Diamond
