Marcopolo Shipyard, has ventured into green&#13;<br \/>\nship recycling, to help shipowners recycle their end-of-life ships in a safe&#13;<br \/>\nand environmentally sound manner. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being awarded the permit by local&#13;<br \/>\nauthorities to conduct ship recycling activities, the Group has also become the&#13;<br \/>\nfirst shipyard in Indonesia to be certified and awarded the ISO 30000:2009&#13;<br \/>\ncertificate. The ISO 30000 certification is recognised globally and often a&#13;<br \/>\nprerequisite by shipowners as the shipping industry look to comply with the new&#13;<br \/>\nEuropean Union (EU) Regulation on Ship Recycling and the International Maritime&#13;<br \/>\nOrganization (IMO) Hong Kong Convention. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sean Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Marco Polo&#13;<br \/>\nMarine, commented: &#8220;<b><i>Given the growing interest in&#13;<br \/>\nsustainability by the shipping industry, we are excited to expand our shipyard&#13;<br \/>\nservices to include green ship recycling. With the ISO certification by ABS\u00a0 QE, ship-owners can be assured that their&#13;<br \/>\nvessels are recycled in safe and environmentally sound facilities.&#8221;<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<b><i>I would like to congratulate Marco Polo for this achievement. To promote transparency across the shipping value chain and&#13;<br \/>\naccelerate a voluntary market-driven approach to responsible ship recycling&#13;<br \/>\npractices, the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI) <sup>[1]<\/sup>&#13;<br \/>\nwas also launched in 2018.
