DUBAI, UAE – Media OutReach<\/a> – 23 December 2021 – Vietnamese Film Week at
\nEXPO 2020 Dubai is set to showcase Viet Nam’s unique culture and landscapes to
\ninternational audiences in a not-to-be-missed, week-long event from Dec. 30,
\n2021, to Jan. 5, 2022.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Vietnamese<\/i> Film Week at
\nEXPO 2020 Dubai will <\/i>screen seven internationally
\nacclaimed Vietnamese movies produced within the past five years<\/i><\/h5>\n

Viet Nam’s first major film event in
\nthe Middle Eastern region is supported by Netflix and\u00a0will screen seven
\ninternationally acclaimed Vietnamese movies produced within the past five
\nyears.<\/p>\n

The Film Week will kick off on
\nDecember 30 at Terra Auditorium with ‘Dad, I’m Sorry,’\u00a0Viet Nam’s
\nhighest-grossing movie of all time. Recently winning\u00a0the prestigious
\nSilver Lotus for Best Feature Film at the Vietnamese National Film Festival
\n2021, “Dad, I’m Sorry” centers around Sang, an aging motorbike driver who continually
\nsacrifices for his family.<\/p>\n

The following day, the Dubai
\nMillennium Amphitheater will screen ‘Furie,’\u00a0an action and martial arts
\nmasterpiece directed by Le Van Kiet. ‘Furie’ stars Veronica Ngo as Hai Phuong,
\nan ex-gangster living a peaceful life in the countryside who is forced to
\nrevisit her violent past when her daughter is kidnapped.<\/p>\n

Vietnamese Film Week will also
\nfeature ‘Father and Son’ (January 1 at Terra Auditorium), a touching family
\nmovie that won accolades at the Arizona International Film Festival 2017, Asian
\nFilm Festival Barcelona 2019, and Boston International Film Festival 2019. The
\nfilm was the only Vietnamese movie to be screened at Saudi Arabia’s King
\nAbdulaziz Center for World Culture in 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other titles include ‘Dreamy
\nEye,’\u00a0an unrequited love story between two childhood friends; ‘The
\nTailor,’\u00a0a comedy putting\u00a0the Vietnamese traditional dress (Ao dai) <\/i>in the spotlight; <\/i>‘Yellow Flower on the Green Grass,’ a
\ntender tale of innocent love, friendship and brotherhood with a magnificent
\nscene of Vietnamese landscapes; and international sensation ‘Yen’s
\nLife,’\u00a0about a young woman forced into marriage at the age of 10.<\/p>\n

According to the
\nCommissioner-General of Vietnam at EXPO 2020 Dubai\u00a0– Nguyen Phuong Hoa,
\nthe seven movies all reflect current and contemporary themes and will appeal to
\na wide range of audiences.<\/p>\n

“People no longer see Viet
\nNam\u00a0as a country of war. We want to show our Viet Nam\u00a0as a peaceful
\nbut dynamic country, always treasuring its national identity and human values,”
\nsaid Hoa.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremony for Vietnamese
\nFilm Week will take place at 6:15 PM on December 30, Vietnam National Day, at
\nEXPO 2020. Screenings are free to all Expo\u00a0ticket holders.<\/p>\n
