\nthe COVID-19 pandemic, the government imposed a number of control measures such
\nas lockdowns and home-isolation. These measures have sparked a surge in demand
\nfor food and drinks, boosting meal pouches and delivery services. Moreover, there
\nhas been a surge in people attempting to cook Taiwanese food at home. <\/p>\n

The
\ngovernment released a series of relief measures from May to July this year and
\nthe “Take Out” platform was introduced to the public in June, aiming to make it
\neasier for people to order food and take it home. Given that we must learn to live
\nwith the virus, the initiative to make food more accessible has become crucial
\nin people’s everyday lives. <\/p>\n

Thanks
\nto Taiwan’s efforts in combating the virus, borders have reopened in more
\ncountries. Regardless of returning home or visiting for vacation, the first
\nstop on people’s itinerary after arriving in the country is usually a traditional
\nTaiwanese restaurant or street food, as well as a hand-shaken drink. With the easing
\nof restrictions and the introduction of the stimulus package, 4,140,000 Food

\nCuisine for the Future” award, this year the theme focused on “legacy” and 72
\nwinners from the 117 applicants were selected to be crowned. <\/p>\n

In November, the Department of Commerce
\nreleased an e-book “The Handbook of Selected Restaurants for Legacy 2021
\nTaiwanese Cuisine for the Future,” allowing food lovers to discover the best in
\nTaiwanese cuisine. To attract more customers, hand-shaken drink operators have
\nadded panna cotta and seasonal fruits into their drinks as well as new
\ningredients sourced directly from farmers, guaranteed to create yet another
\ncraze in Taiwan. Not many countries have tackled the virus as well as Taiwan
\nwith 0 local infected cases for many days. This result is attributable to the
