Grand gestures and elaborate public displays <sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_33\" id=\"-78218672\">were&#13;<br \/>\n less<\/sdt> appeal<sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_35\" id=\"-1361512499\">ing<\/sdt> to respondents, with a solid majority saying&#13;<br \/>\nthe ideal way to pop the question would be one person proposing to the other<sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_36\" id=\"-742488276\">&#13;<br \/>\n (98%)<\/sdt>, planned ahead of&#13;<br \/>\ntime<sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_37\" id=\"248238890\"> (66%)<\/sdt>,&#13;<br \/>\nand in a private place<sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_38\" id=\"1344585805\"> (66%)<\/sdt>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_48\" id=\"1183317427\">&#13; <\/p>\n<p>The pressure may be&#13;<br \/>\n off when it comes to staging a grandiose ask, but nearly every woman surveyed&#13;<br \/>\n (96%) said she wanted to have some involvement in the selection of her&#13;<br \/>\n engagement ring<sdtpr\/><sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_39\" id=\"-1509739747\">, <\/sdt>and would not want it to be a&#13;<br \/>\n total surprise. Three-fourths of pre-engaged females have thought a lot or&#13;<br \/>\n some about their engagement rings and most are increasingly preferring more&#13;<br \/>\n personalized and unique engagement rings. The primary choice for an engagement&#13;<br \/>\n ring remains a diamond, with the majority citing this as their first&#13;<br \/>\n choice.\u00a0 But contrary to popular&#13;<br \/>\n opinion, <sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_40\" id=\"628981520\">pre-engaged <\/sdt>women are less focused on how big the&#13;<br \/>\n diamond is than on the shape, style and setting of the stone.<sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_44\" id=\"72942068\"> <\/sdt>\u00a0When&#13;<br \/>\n it comes to purchasing the ring, about 2 in 10 respondents expect both&#13;<br \/>\n partners to contribute to the cost; most women (76%) expect their partner will&#13;<br \/>\n pay.<sdt showingplchdr=\"t\" sdttag=\"goog_rdk_47\" id=\"1432779902\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/sdt><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/sdt><sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_50\" id=\"375279636\">&#13; <\/p>\n<p><sdtpr\/><sdt showingplchdr=\"t\" sdttag=\"goog_rdk_49\" id=\"601691413\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n  <\/sdt><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/sdt><sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_53\" id=\"-502745141\">&#13; <\/p>\n<p><sdtpr\/><sdt sdttag=\"goog_rdk_51\" id=\"1489594037\">While females desire more intimate&#13;<br \/>\n  proposals, the majority (85%) feel there is more pressure on their partners&#13;<br \/>\n  to plan a unique proposal than in their parents&#8217; generation.
