The Week is a global platform from&#13;<br \/>\nwhich to campaign for solutions to critical issues of early-stage equity and&#13;<br \/>\ncapital markets, startup economies, and other worldwide concerns at the United&#13;<br \/>\nNations, the European Union, the ASEAN Economic Community, the OECD, and in G20&#13;<br \/>\ncountries, and regional and local economies. It is celebrated every third week&#13;<br \/>\nof October, under a global theme. The Week is coordinated globally by the World&#13;<br \/>\nBusiness Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) &#8211; an&#13;<br \/>\naffiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion&#13;<br \/>\n(GPFI). <b\/><\/p>\n<p>This&#13;<br \/>\nyear&#8217;s global theme is Business Diplomacy for International Entrepreneurship.&#13;<br \/>\nThe event took place over 18-24 October 2021 and hosted more than 80,000&#13;<br \/>\nentrepreneurs, startups, investors, innovators, policy makers, and thought&#13;<br \/>\nleaders from around the world. <b>Baybars Altuntas, Global Chair of the Week and&#13;<br \/>\nExecutive Chairman of the World Business Angels Investment Forum<\/b>, kicked&#13;<br \/>\noff the Week with a Grand Opening Ceremony hosting a long list of honorary&#13;<br \/>\nspeakers including <b>H.E. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovi\u0107, President of the Republic&#13;<br \/>\nof Croatia (2015-2020) <\/b>and ministers from Costa Rica, Canada, North&#13;<br \/>\nMacedonia, Monaco, Mexico, Jamaica, Thailand, and UAE, regional leaders of&#13;<br \/>\nangel investors, as well as continental chairs of the Week including <b>Derik&#13;<br \/>\nKim, Continental Chair Asia<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mariana&#13;<br \/>\nKou, <\/b><b>WBAW C<\/b><b>ountry Chair&#13;<br \/>\nChina<\/b>, highlighted during the 21 October&#13;<br \/>\n2021 session for China that innovation and technology advancement were key to&#13;<br \/>\nsocial and economic development and encouraged all stakeholders in the public&#13;<br \/>\nand private sectors to collaborate and contribute to the startup economy in&#13;<br \/>\nChina, Asia, and globally. <b>Raymond Wong<\/b>, head of Investment at the Hong&#13;<br \/>\nKong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, gave a keynote speech sharing&#13;<br \/>\nthe role of Hong Kong in China&#8217;s entrepreneurial journey. Keynote speaker <b>Emily&#13;<br \/>\nLam-Ho<\/b>, founder of 8Shades, co-founder of EcoDrive, and managing partner of&#13;<br \/>\nEmpact28 shared how she worked towards building a greener world with an impact&#13;<br \/>\ninvesting platform, a NGO, and a startup venture. A roundtable moderated by <b>Roland&#13;<br \/>\nYau<\/b>, managing partner of CoCoon Ignite Ventures invited <b>Lavine Hemlani<\/b>,&#13;<br \/>\nfounder of Xccelerate, <b>Theodore Ma<\/b>, founder of MPower, and <b>Lara Wang<\/b>,&#13;<br \/>\nco-founder of Link Resources Asia to speak about their views and expectations on&#13;<br \/>\nthe future of work.
