The outreach was part of Canopy Sands&#8217; ongoing efforts to support local&#13;<br \/>\ncommunities as Cambodia reopens for a&#13;<br \/>\npost-pandemic recovery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/images.media-outreach.com\/Thumb\/500x0\/189498\/Canopy-Sands-1.jpg#image-189498\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/images.media-outreach.com\/Thumb\/500x0\/189505\/Canopy-Sands-2.jpg#image-189505\" width=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Canopy Sands team handed over 30 tons&#13;<br \/>\nworth of food packs containing essentials such as rice, cooking oil and canned&#13;<br \/>\nfood during the outreach programme involving M&#8217;Lop Tapang and residents of Ong&#13;<br \/>\nVillage. Additionally, the donation to M&#8217;Lop Tapang also covered medical and&#13;<br \/>\nhygiene products alongside educational aid like made-to-order school bags from&#13;<br \/>\nthe Indochina Starfish Foundation, a Cambodian charity that focuses on&#13;<br \/>\neducational initiatives for the underprivileged children in Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had several conversations with&#13;<br \/>\nrepresentatives from M&#8217;Lop Tapang and Ong Village to understand their specific&#13;<br \/>\nneeds before putting together these care packages. It is our sincere hope that ongoing programs like these will be of&#13;<br \/>\nassistance and somewhat lessen the hardships of those hit hardest by the COVID-19&#13;<br \/>\npandemic,&#8221; said Khong Weng Fook, Managing Director of Canopy Sands.<\/p>\n<p>M&#8217;Lop Tapang is one of the&#13;<br \/>\nleading charitable organizations in Sihanoukville and currently works with more&#13;<br \/>\nthan 5,000 children in Sihanoukville providing a safe environment, medical&#13;<br \/>\ncare, education, training and safe employment, counseling, psycho-social&#13;<br \/>\nsupport, family strengthening and protection from abuse. Ong Village is a settlement of over 200 families near the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reamcity.com\/\">Ream City<\/a> project by Canopy Sands.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in September, Prince Holding Group&#8217;s philanthropic arm, Prince&#13;<br \/>\nFoundation, responded to a request for assistance from the Prey Nob district,&#13;<br \/>\nPreah Sihanouk province, in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by donating&#13;<br \/>\n5,000 PPE suits, 1,000 rapid antigen test kits, and 4,500 liters of&#13;<br \/>\nalcohol-based hand sanitizer. In the same month, Prince Foundation had also&#13;<br \/>\nlaunched the Chen Zhi Scholarship in partnership with the Ministry of&#13;<br \/>\nEducation, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), offering full tuition fees and stipends for&#13;<br \/>\n400 Cambodian university students via an investment of US$2 million over the&#13;<br \/>\ncoming seven years.<\/p>\n<p>Through distributing essential&#13;<br \/>\naid via established NGOs and the local authorities, Canopy Sands is working to develop a constructive&#13;<br \/>\ndialogue between local communities and the developer to ensure a productive&#13;<br \/>\nlong-term relationship.
